Ideally designed as an office furniture, the Calm Space is an enclosed capsule that comes with a single mattress, mood lighting and calming music, that will allow people in the work space to take power naps.
This is created for Haworth by Marie Virginie Berbet, a designer from France, and the company was able to test how effective this tiny bedroom for the workplace is. Haworth describes the concept of the Calm Space as innovative. And while sleeping at work definitely doesn’t fall under the boundaries of professionalism, sometimes, it’s important for workers to take a break and catch on sleep, especially if the are projects and tasks that take up long work hours.
The Calm Space encourages rest to boost creativity and productivity, and it’s specifically designed for 30-minute naps only. The bosses do not have to worry its staff is going to end up sleeping on the job.
The only question is, if this Calm Space has comfortable mattress, or if it’s generally a nice place to sleep in? The design looks sleek and straight forward, but lacks the homey and cozy element. What do you think?
