The holidays will mean travel and a hotel accommodation for a lot of people and the last thing anyone wants to deal with during these short breaks is bedbug infestation, especially when checking out from the hotel. Unfortunately for everyone, bedbugs will not discriminate and anyone in any of the hotels all over the states, including those with 5-star accommodation, are susceptible. So, how do you prevent becoming a prey to bedbugs?
While most reputable hotels have regular maintenance and extermination, you cannot be too careful. So here are some basic tips:
1) Keep your suitcase a top tables or the luggage rack provided, as these are opened and exposed, which turn away bedbugs. Never set it down on the floor, where the carpet is, as bedbugs are known to be present in these little areas, hiding and setting camp so to speak.
2) Carefully inspect the room you’ve checked in. Pay very close attention to the edges of the mattress, as well as the blankets and sheets that are on it. Bedbugs may sometimes be hard to spot, but if you see stains or marks around the bedding.
3) Also check the bed’s headboard and side tables, particularly where there are dark spaces in between, because bed bugs can thrive in these spots.
Do all of these before you take anything out from your bag or luggage and if you feel uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to ask for a change in sheets or completely look for a different room accommodation.
