It’s interesting how creative designers’ mind work, especially when they redesign and repurpose a familiar piece and come up with something truly exceptional.
Take this case of the Roulade Armrest from a company called KiBiSi. Instantly, you know that you’ve seen this before. The chair will automatically remind you of a mattress, only it’s rolled up to form a suitable seating area. The chair, however, isn’t an actual mattress. But the designer has taken the idea from it.
The Roulade is made of high density foam, the same foam that mattresses are made of, and then it’s upholstered and kept together using Kvadrat fabric. The fabric is known for its comfort and durability, which means that this chair was built to become a sofa hangout, contemporary style not withstanding.

This next item is another fantastic reinvention, this time, of wires and coils that are usually found inside the mattress. The Ferrum and Aurum armchairs are made in iron and gold, hence the name, by Dejana Kabiljo. It’s more of an artistic statement than a functional piece, but the chair is actually solid and yet relaxing. The wires apparently behave like spring on a mattress bed in that, it offers maximum support.
