Children’s mattress are vulnerable to stains, and most of the time, these are from brightly colored juice and beverages that kids love to drink. Sometimes, these stains leave nearly permanent impressions and are not entirely cleaned off since spills like this go beyond the top layer. It’s like the mattress has been dyed with new colors.
But surface stains can be fixed. First, dampen the area with water using a soft cloth or cotton. You can then use either laundry detergent or peroxide, or a specific product of choice in the soiled area. With an absorbent cotton, blot on the surface for at least 30 seconds. Avoid rubbing the surface, and just repeat the process of blotting, until the surface is dry.
If you are wary of using products, try vinegar. Put this in a spray on container, spray the surface and let it stay there for a few hours. Later, blot the area with a clean and slightly damp cloth, and watch as the stain goes away. Vinegar is also effective in removing the odor of the spilled liquid.
