Do you have a baby that’s all grown up and is sleeping in her own single bed now? Is her baby mattress still around and is it still in great condition? Don’t give or throw this away just yet. You can repurpose the baby mattress into a sitter or a daybed to add to your living room or the outdoor patio. Or perhaps place in your own bedroom, if there is still some space.
This project will require some DIY skills, or you can hire a professional to do it. The crib mattress will need to be covered in a fabric of your choice. Choose the waterproof kinds if you’re planning to put this outdoor. The fabric should be sewed on, or glued down (to cut sewing time). And then, you will need to have a base created for it, so that the daybed is slightly raised. The example in the photo is what it can look like, but you can create your own design for the base. After which, add some bolstered pillows and straps to finish it off. Use old belts for the straps, if you don’t want to any additional purchase.
With this, you have added a whole new furniture in your house, without throwing the baby mattress. A great idea, isn’t it?
