Making sure that babies are safely laid down on their beds or cribs helps with them developing a good sleeping pattern and guarantees no other danger or harm can happen to them while they are asleep. Here are things you must take note of:
The baby must have a study, flat crib or bed to sleep on, with a soft mattress that comes with a secured fitted sheet. The mattress must be highly recommended and safe for babies. The crib can be placed in the parents’ room, at least for the next six months.
Make sure that the blankets and pillows are also safe for newborns and babies. Do not get the ones that you have to zip on as it can entangle the baby, suffocating her.
Blankets must be tucked under the mattress securely. If the baby moves, make sure that this doesn’t cover the face or wrap parts of her body tightly.
Pillows must also be securely in place so as not to suffocate her.
Avoid having too many stuffed toys and animals on the baby’s crib as this may suffocate her, too.
