IKEA 365+ Skydda Mattress Protector
0 Comments Published by Lilian September 9th, 2008 in MATTRESS Accessories.Ikea’s Skydda mattress protector is made up of 55% lyocell and 45% cotton, which makes the pad ultra breathable and absorbent.
Its filling is of 50% polyester and 50% modal, which also helps a lot with absorption.
The protector is effective in keeping away stains and dirt from seeping through the actual mattress . Its elastic corners keep it in place, but then it’s also easier to remove and clean when needed.
Price is only $69.99 at Ikea.

A different kind of mattress protector
0 Comments Published by Lilian August 19th, 2008 in MATTRESS News.It seems that we’ve featured almost every other type of mattress protector on this site. But I don’t think we’ve ever heard of one that literally is a “mattress protector”, shielding a woman from the deadliest one of it all — the bullet.
Cops say a woman in her 20s narrowly escaped injury after bullets penetrated her northeast home and struck the mattress she slept on early yesterday morning.
Several bullets struck the rear of a home in the 600 block of Taradale Dr. N.E. about 1:30 a.m.
“The bullet came through the floor and went into her mattress,” Insp. Steve Lorne said.
Police say the incident is not gang-related.
Although cops said they believe the victim’s home was specifically targeted, they are still trying to determine a motive behind the attack. Police have yet to speak to any witnesses.
Police are still gathering information on this attack. Via the Calgary Sun

It’s a regular bean bag first and foremost, but hidden under the zippers, this bean bag turns into a comfortable mattress! It even comes with its very own mattress protector! How about this for extra seating and extra sleeping space?

The bean bag mattress may either be made in corduroy, denim or suede. Shell out at least $300-$500 for the biggest size.

Pretty soon, millions of young adults will head off to college with a hint of anticipation and appreciation. Many of them will expectedly be staying in tiny door rooms. But some will find the transition more difficult than others which is why it’s better to get started and make preparations earlier.
Bed Bath and Beyond has this very comprehensive tips for both incoming college students and parents. I’ll highlight the ones that relate to mattress needs:
– Check it Off. Use a comprehensive checklist to figure out what you need to buy and what you can take from home. Bedbathandbeyond.com offers a checklist broken down by category.
– Split it Up. Students should reach out to their roommates before they shop to decide who is bringing what so they avoid bringing (and buying) duplicates.
– Check it Out. Before you shop, check with your college or university on the size of your mattress. Is it a twin or extra long twin? It would be a shame to buy the perfect sheets and then find out they are too small.
– Don’t Drive Yourself Nuts! Gone are the days of bungee cording the trunk closed. Bed Bath & Beyond stores offer a unique “Pack & Hold”(TM) service that eliminates the hassle of packing the car. Students simply shop at a store near home and then pick the items up at a store near their college, or choose to have the items shipped directly to their school.
– Don’t Forget to Make Your Bed. When you get to your dorm room, cover your mattress with a mattress protector, a quilted mattress pad, a feather bed, and finally new sheets and comforter. You’ll feel like you’re sleeping at a four star hotel, not the freshman quad.
– Don’t Panic. As prepared as you are, chances are you will forget something. Relax … bedbathandbeyond.com offers a college/store locator that makes it easy to find the store closest to your college to get the things most likely forgotten, such as hangers, extension cords and surge protectors.
