Salvation Army gets Mattress Donations
0 Comments Published by Lilian February 1st, 2008 in MATTRESS Business, MATTRESS News.
The Salvation Army has received a substantial donation of cash from mattress purchases made at the Denver Mattress Company. The mattress company awarded $176,000 to them, during the promo they ran in December. For every mattress they sold, $20 will go to the Salvation Army.
“The Salvation Army is extremely grateful for this very special gift from Denver Mattress Company’s Operation Rest Assured campaign,” said Lt. Col. Raymond Peacock, divisional commander of the Salvation Army, Intermountain Division. “This gift will provide shelter to the homeless, feed the hungry, tutor at-risk kids in our after school programs and help families transition out of homelessness. Lives will be changed throughout the Metro Denver community.”

Mattress Recycling Works

In a follow up story to this entry posted last time, SVDP’s mattress recycling program has already targeted hotels, universities and hospitals to transfer their old mattress to their facility and have it recycled. One thing to note though, the organization do not accept moldy and dilapidated mattresses for safety and health reasons.
SVDP is dedicated to the responsible re-use of resources, but that is only part of their purpose. Their overall mission is to assist the poor and the homeless and to provide opportunities for them to become self-sufficient. To help achieve this, SVDP also has a wood shop, an appliance shop, a glass foundry, a propane tank recycling program, a computer recycling program, and numerous other businesses. An added benefit of SVDP’s mattress recycling program is that it has created 20 new jobs.

Mattress Discounters Donates New Mattresses
0 Comments Published by Lilian September 29th, 2007 in MATTRESS News.
Business leader Mattress Discounters recently gave fifteen new mattresses to the homeless institution, Focus House. The shelter has to contend with intermittent bed bug infestation that instead of helping the homeless find refuge and avoid sleeping in the streets, they end up getting bitten by the pests in the comforts of the shelter.
The shelter has been established to help the homeless become productive citizens. Normally, people don’t have a lot of sympathy for them but hopefully, this gesture by the mattress company will inspire others to do the same.
If you would like to donate anything, you can go to Focal House’s parent organization www.fishcarson.org.
