Some Common Complaints About Memory Foam Mattress
0 Comments Published by Lilian January 6th, 2008 in MATTRESS News.
It smells unpleasantly. Memory foams are said to emit an odor that last for weeks, making new owners feel uncomfortable. Open your room’s windows once in a while, to let the memory foam breath and it will help the odor go away quickly.
Not as firm as one imagines. Some owners feel that the memory foam mattress they have tried in the stores are much more softer. Why is that so? Those mattress on display are actually already broken in. Several others have tried it. As for your new memory foam, in time, it will feel less firm.
It feels hot, it “cooks” the sleeper. Memory foams supposedly don’t do well in warmer climates, as air circulation seems to be hampered. Some companies who make memory foam have corrected this by adding a special layer that encourages air circulation better. Using cotton sheets over memory foam may also improve the situation.

Nature in Your Bed

This is a completely alternative mattress topper to the ones usually seen at stores and are chemically treated. They’re made of buckwheat hulls and are inserted tunnel style. The fabric is then weaved to keep the wheats in place.
Buckwheat hull mattress toppers are designed to lie atop an existing mattress to extend the life of mattress and increase the comfort of sleep. The Buckwheat Hull filling is natural, it lasts for many years. Long after other fillings have collapsed and worn out, a buckwheat hull filling will still be fully functional.
- The buckwheat hull mattress topper conform to the exact contours of your body providing a compliant passive support for it.
- Buckwheat hull filling and a special tunnel construction of topper provides good air circulation, natural ventilation and keeps the body temperature regulated and reduces perspiration.
- Buckwheat hull is not a wheat at all, but actually a fruit related to rhubarb so people with grain allergies are generally not bothered by hulls.
- Buckwheat hull top-mattress is 100% natural product.

Taking Good Care of Your Mattress
0 Comments Published by Lilian November 15th, 2007 in MATTRESS News, MATTRESS Tips.
As with any piece or property you own, taking care of your mattress keeps it in most useful form for years. Caring begins the moment you have purchased and paid for it.
Below are some simple reminders or care tips:
Once delivered, air your mattresses out for at least for half a day. This will help remove any traces of scent from being stored too long. Your new mattress must also be aired at least once a month.
Put mattress protectors on top and change your sheets often. Avoid using plastic sheets, as this will prevent your mattress from “breathing”, believe it or not. Mattresses that do not get proper ventilation or air circulation may condense and thus have poor quality.
If you own spring mattresses, you need to turn this regularly so that it doesn’t remain compressed and dipped onto one side. If you own visco elastic mattresses, these need not be regularly turned, but rotated.
Through the years, mattresses may gradually lose its firmness but know that this is normal. What’s important is the pressure points in key areas (shoulders and hip areas) remain the same and that the mattress is still comfortable to sleep on.
