Most futon mattress remain in top condition for up to seven years. But if you take proper care, you can invariably sustain quality for much longer:
to keep it firm and even, roll them up once a month
same reasons as with rolling it up, flip and rotate the futon mattress monthly
to keep it fresh, sprinkle baking soda and then vacuum clean it
cover your mattress for protection
consider putting a mattress topper which will absorb pressure and dirt, and not directly onto the mattress
Futon mattresses should be at least six inches thick and are either made of cotton foam or cotton polyester, so that they are lighter but won’t sag easily. Some futon mattress may have inter spring for additional support.
