    1. Judy White Says:

I ordered this model (Simmons Sunflower) from Macy’s a few weeks ago. Prior to making the purchase (which took about 40 minutes due to difficulty in the checkout process as the delivery was too soon according to Alexis but we went ahead anyway), we clarified with the salesclerk that Macy’s would deliver and set up the new mattress. We live in Grantsville, UT which is about 27 miles from Macy’s in West Valley, UT.
When we did not hear a confirmation of delivery date, I called and talked to Alexis who apologized and stated Macy’s would not deliver to Grantsville. Then, she spoke to someone else who thought maybe Macy’s would do a special delivery. This apparently fell through as well. The next thing that happened is we received a $40 gift card from Macy’s which I presume was Macy’s way of saying sorry but….
      So, fine. Thank you.

I have since learned that Macy’s delivers to a town, Tooele which is 6 miles difference in distance from Macy’s to Grantsville by some online calculator. I’ve learned that Macy’s delivers to St. George, which is a 4.5 hour drive to southern Utah.

I just want you to consider this. My husband and I are seniors. We do not own a truck. We have no way to carry a mattress home, let alone set it up. We are part of a birth cohort of boomers (my husband is 85) all of whom will be retiring and who may also have the same problem I described regarding our inability to transport and set up a mattress and box spring.

So, you lost an $800-$900 sale – we lost a mattress we thought we’d purchased and spent considerable time doing so – all over 6 miles? And Macy’s is stuck in some kind of rut about to whom they will deliver merchandise. Unfortunate from all aspects.

My hope, not for us now as it’s too late, (tho we still don’t have a mattress), but for others, is that Macy’s will revisit some of their policies which seem like they don’t make much sense. Do you have something against traveling to Grantsville, which RC Willeys, Ashley Furniture, Sears, etc. are somehow able to find? Can your trucks just not turn that direction?

All I am asking for, is the reason you do not deliver to Grantsville, even though you will deliver to St. George – we even offered to pay. You could schedule a delivery to Grantsville once every two weeks for pete’s sake.

Enough. This story when I retell it will end this way.

      Thanks for listening.
      Sincerely,
      A dissatisfied customer.
