Mattress Cleaning tips from Mrs. Clean

Our mattresses need constant care and if necessary, a good cleaning, especially when it has been subjected to a lot stress and tension. And not saying that in human terms, but in terms of unavoidable or accidental staining and spills or the pressure of wear and tear. Fortunately, I found some great mattress care tips from Mrs. Clean. Try this out and see if it works:

When it comes to problems with urine or other stains on the bed, use this method for cleaning them out.

  1. Blot dry as much as possible with clean terry cloths. Do not rub, but use pressure.
  2. When no more liquid is being removed, stop.
  3. Next, apply a good amount of hydrogen peroxide to the area. Use a spray attachment to apply.
  4. Allow to sit for five to eight minutes.
  5. Blot dry.
  6. To remove odors, sprinkle baking soda on top of the area where the stain was and allow it to sit for several hours.
  7. Brush off.

If the stain is no longer wet, applying the hydrogen peroxide will help to activate it again, allowing you to work on it. If the stain will not come clean, apply dry borax to the stained area. Use a gently rub to work it into the stain. Repeat the process of removing the stains from above until it is fully remove

Now, the thing to note though is that you’re not done cleaning as soon as you have done all this. Mrs Clean says that “drying out” the mattress is very crucial to the whole cleaning process.

If you do not properly provide enough drying to the mattress, you will put yourself at risk for problems with bacterial growth as well as the right for viral growth and fungal growth, all things you do not want growing in your bed frame.

So give your mattress some time to soak under the heat of the sun. Or allow it to sit in a room that is well-ventilated for at least a day or two before you start using it again. When you follow all these, you will notice your mattress will feel as if it was brand new!
