Talalay Mattress vs Dunlop Mattress
Organic mattresses are very popular these days and this has resulted to the increase in popularity between two kinds– Talalay & Dunlop.
Many people confuse these two, thinking quality and type have something to do with the difference. But Talalay & Dunlop are actually the methods in which the materials, specifically latex materials, are processed and manufactured. The name branding has very little to do with the quality of the end product.
With Dunlop, a procedure that began in the late 1920’s, latex is processed from a serum that is molded and baked in low temperatures and when it has formed and settled, it produces a very firm layer on the bottom part.
With Talalay, the serum is molded , the air bubbles are extracted and then after which it is frozen to achieve stability with softer quality. Talalay is a more recently developed procedure, using more advanced technologies. Hence, Talalay mattresses are slightly more expensive.
Dunlop mattresses are firmer. Talalay mattresses are softer. Both cannot be compared, no matter how companies market these to claim that one kind is better than the other. People’s preferences also differ and one may be looking for a firmer mattress rather than a softer mattress and vice versa.

Bought the Dormia ‘Legends’ bed. Loved it for the 1st week, then it started to feel like we were sleeping in quicksand. We were rolling into the middle, & I hurt my back trying to get out of bed- feels like I was trying to climb out of a hole. One night after tossing & turning for hours, I gave up & slept on the floor. Hated it & returned it.
Just bought another latex bed from ‘Natural bed store.com’.Hoping for the best
