Hypoallergenic mattress, are they effective?

by Lilian on Thursday, November 8th, 2007

People suffering from different bouts of sneezing and asthma attacks may be triggered by allergic reactions to the chemical components found on their mattresses and sheets. Using a hypoallergenic mattress or covering the bed with less harmful beddings is advisable. However, one should be aware that containing the allergy by switching to a more organic kind of bedding does not always guarantee effectiveness in terms of making the symptoms go away completely. At best, it just helps reduce your exposure to the contaminants.  The other thing one must do in order to keep the bedroom allergen free is to regularly clean your sleeping space — wash your sheets and mattress protectors regularly, change sheets as often as you should, flip your mattress from time to time, vacuum it if necessary. Doing all these will allow you better sleep and comfort.
