When the bed bugs bite

by Lilian on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

A bed bug’s bite may sometimes be hard to diagnose even for a dermatologist because their bite looks like any other insect’s. So sometimes, you might just shrug it off as exactly that, without realizing your mattress is already infested. What does a bed bug bite look like? Clearly, it’s just like another mosquito bite — reddish and itchy. It may be a bit inflamed and may appear to be in clusters with different sizes.

When you find yourself waking up with bites on your arms and legs, don’t be complacent. Be vigilant and check for traces of bed bugs on your mattress. They normally live under the folds and seams. If you do think that that’s a bed bug bite on your arms, do not be alarmed. It is usually not harmful, just irritating.

Call or visit your dermatologist immediately, for relief treatments. Scratching it off will make it worse.
