We sleep nearly 1/4 of our whole lives, which is why a good bed is crucial to our health. It contributes to the way our bodies recover and rejuvenate. A mattress may need replacement when its obviously worn out or has lapsed to 10 to 15 years of usefulness but sometimes, with cheaper mattresses, our body instantly tells when the mattress is no longer doing its function.
Below are some signs you should watch out for indicating that maybe it’s to do some much needed mattress shopping:
1. You constantly wake up feeling body aches, when you supposedly just had a night’s rest. The back pains and joint pains may be caused by an uneven mattress. Normal impressions usually support the body and does more for your comfort. But when the mattress is worn out and sagging, there are some dents and depressions that actually contribute to muscle aches.
2. You are more tired than rested when waking up. With a worn out mattress, it should be impossible to get a good sleep. You may end up waking up lots of times in the middle of the night, or tossing and turning just to get that comfortable position. If this happens to you a lot, it may not be stress or worry that’s causing it…it may actually be your mattress.
3. Sleep is so much better on a different bed. That’s because your body loves the mattress’ support better so you are getting better sleep elsewhere.
4. You are starting to have allergies. Do you know that as mattress ages, the weight of it doubles because of all the dust mites and other allergens that have accumulated in it? This may be a myth, but a mattress can get dirty and over time, may be too dirty, it’s time for you to ditch it.
