Futon mattresses originally come from Japan, where thin-layered mattresses are placed directly on the floor when it’s time for sleep. Adapted in the Western culture, futons became very popular as it a cheaper alternative to a regular, standard mattress. But unlike its East Asian counterpart, they come in a frame or base, either as a bed or couch.

The comfort level a futon bed or chair provides is unequivocally satisfying. As such many homes in America own at least one of this, sometimes even to a point of replacing actual bedroom or living room furniture.
