Moving mattresses, saving the environment
Colin Stevens of Seattle uses his bicycle and cart to pull a queen-size mattress up a hill while helping friends Joe Goldberg and Venessa Brown make a “zero-carbon” move in Seattle on Saturday. Chris Eggermont (left) of New York, also a friend of the couple, transports more of their belongings.
Their goal? It’s to move a whole household without having to contribute to global warning by burning fossil fuels. There are no moving trucks involved here. The household is composed of two adults and two young twin boys.
They had to take at least twelve trips back and forth, along with a couple of friends. It’s exercise for them, a new house for the family, and a world made better by conservation.
