Mattress causes road accident
Another lesson on road safety which pertains to transporting mattress. I did not realize how often this happens or how an individual could carelessly leave a mattress on a busy highway. And it is happening way more often than anyone can imagine.
DALLAS — A mattress caused a number of traffic problems Thursday morning, including a damaged police cruiser and spilled fuel, police said.
Police said a truck was pulling a refrigerated trailer on northbound Central Expressway near Northpark Center when it ran over a mattress, piercing the fuel tank and causing mechanical problems.
The driver tried to pull off the freeway, but blocked two lanes of traffic and spilled several gallons of fuel, police said.
Dallas police said an officer stopped to block traffic where the debris and fuel had spread across the freeway when another vehicle crashed into the squad car.
The officer was not in the car at the time.
Police said the driver who rear-ended the officer was taken to Baylor Medical Center after being hit by another vehicle.
A DWI investigator was called to the scene, but police did not say which driver was investigated.
Who left the mattress at the scene?
