Jacuzzi and Thrumo-Pudic to make Gel-Foam for Mattress
ARCHDALE, N.C. (WGHP) — A company most often associated with hot water is getting into bed, literally, with a local foam mattress company.Jacuzzi, the manufacturer of hot tubs, baths and showers, announced Friday it will produce a gel memory foam with Archdale, N.C.’s Thurmo-Pudic USA, a company known for creating state-of-the-art memory foam found in some mattresses.
“The gel visco (foam) is more supportive than the contemporary visco that’s used in the industry,” explained Jacuzzi president and CEO Tom Koos. “It’s cooler. That means a lot in the summer months, because visco has a tendency to be rather warm.”
Thurmo-Pudic, now known as Jacuzzi Sleep System, is already planning for orders by expanding its factories.
The partnership initially will bring 46 jobs to the area, with an additional 100 possible.
“As we compete globally, a collaboration of partnerships is the way of the future, and it’s the only way we can survive anymore,” said Beverly Nelson.
