Guidelines for Mattress Designs

by Lilian on Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

A mattress that is designed poorly will inevitably provide inadequate support that will cause back problems and muscle discomfort. For some users, softness or firmness will matter. And as more and more designs become highly sophisticated, choosing the best one may not be as simple as it seems.

Rounding up a couple of guidelines which you yourself have determined should help narrow down your search and choices. Some of the things you have to consider must include the following:

Does the mattress design conform to your spinal curve?
Does the mattress design align to your spinal curve while you are on top of it?
Is the pressure evenly distributed all over your body?
Are you able to move about freely on the bed?
For couples or two people in one bed, is the movement of your sleeping partner also affecting your side of the bed?
How much support is there around the edges?

These are just the basics. You may have other guidelines to include in your list, and you should. Choosing a mattress requires time and patience, because the quality of your sleep will be greatly affected.
