Girl survived Black Sea onboard air mattress

by Lilian on Friday, June 29th, 2007

In an uplifting turn of events, a Ukrainian teenager was found two days after she drifted on her air mattress in the Black Sea. Reports say that her friends and her went to the beach to tan themselves and she eventually chose to cool down in the water on top of an air mattress. She fell asleep and did not realize she was drifting farther away from the shore.

The report credited the owner of small motor boat operating in the area with saving her life – discovering Albina the next day by accident. Until the motor boat reached her, bikini-clad Abina had been without water or protection from harsh sunlight. Unfortunately for the pair, the motor boat’s engine stopped operating shortly after Albina went on board. An MES search vessel located the drifting motor boat and the pair the next day. Both Albina and the motor boat’s owner were badly sunburned, but otherwise unharmed by the 48-hour ordeal.

The whole story is on Earthtimes.
