Here’s a list of European Mattresses making it’s way to US market in the hopes of penetrating it. The list is as provided by Furniture Style:

Company: Magniflex
Country of Origin: Italy

  • Product Summary: Most Magniflex mattress cores are flippable, with a softer and a firmer side, giving consumers long-term comfort flexibility.
  • Representative Product: Dual Comfort Magnifico has a dual core that allows sleep partners to independently customize their sleep surface. The ticking is a silver-cashmere blend that provides a luxurious feel and excellent antibacterial and antimiocrobial properties.
  • Other Product Offerings: Magniflex recently introduced two lower price-point mattresses, Riposo and Buongiorno, as well as the $24,000 Gold and $75,000 Platinum models.
  • Marketing Strategy: The company hopes to capitalize on its long history in Italy of crafting eco-friendly mattresses. While the Gold and Platinum mattresses do sell, Magniflex places models on retail sales floors to generate media and consumer buzz, according to National Sales Director Irwin Pearl.

Company: Kaymed

Country of Origin: Ireland
Core Price Points: $1,700-$3,500

  • Kaymed Mattress Product Summary: Sleep Spa, a line of specialty sleep products.
  • Representative Product: Gel Therapy (shown), part of the company’s Sleep Spa line, features a sleep surface composed of a top layer of plush quilt top visco and poly fiber over a 1.75-inch-thick layer of waffled cool gel over a 2-inch layer of visco.
  • Other Product Offerings: The Sleep Spa line includes visco, latex and air mattresses.
  • Marketing Strategy: “All of our brand building,” said Kaymed Global Sales Director Rosemary Turley, “is designed to drive people to the retailers.” To that end, the company is launching an infomercial, a dedicated training department and a gallery program. Kaymed also will have completed beta tests for a sophisticated, and impressive, sleep scan system that can scan a consumer to determine the best mattress for her—thus eliminating the confusion born of trying to sort through latex, visco, gel and air options. (The implication of this is that Kaymed tries to fit the material to the customer’s body, rather than her pocketbook.) Throughout all these efforts, Kaymed emphasizes the benefits of a good mattress, rather than technical details, such as foam densities.
