Designing your own waterproof mattress protector is possible. If you are crafty and have the patience to do this, it can be most rewarding.

1 x top fabric in 100% cotton
1 x inner absorbent fabric
1 x PUL fabric
2 x fabric for side flaps

You will also need to do a bit of sewing and stitching. But think of all the money you can save and the joy you can have doing this project all by yourself. This is really one very rewarding activity to do.
