Breaking Down Spring Mattress
Without having to go to a mattress factory, can you picture how a spring mattress comes together?
Ticking is what is called to your mattress’ outside layer. It’s made of either cotton or polyester or a mixture of both. Others use vinyl ticking because it is cheaper.
In the middle of the mattress is the quilted foam, just below it are the springs. In between the foam and the springs is an insulation pad what acts as a barrier so that you won’t feel the spring under it.
Mattresses also have coils in their springs. If there are fewer coils, it means a firmer mattress.
Some spring mattresses may come in a box, to help hold everything together, serving as the foundation for the mattress.
