The Jolie Pitts have apparently bought the $65,000 Vividus horsehair mattress, one of the most expensive mattresses in the world. Raising six kids, two of them still infants, can take a toll even for this celebrity couple that they need a bed super comfortable enough for sleep at night.
I wonder how many they have of this mattress, considering the Jolie Pitts are never in the same continent for a certain period of time.
Angelina Jolie has splashed out $65,000 on a horsehair mattress. The ‘Changeling’ actress has reportedly been struggling to sleep since her twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born in July and decided to invest in the expensive handmade bedding.
A source said: “Angelina is hoping she can rest better now she has bought a brand new horsehair mattress. The incredible Vividus bed was made entirely by hand in Sweden. It took roughly 150 hours to make and cost a whopping $65,000!”

Mattress Recycling Awareness Increases in Australia
0 Comments Published by Lilian October 14th, 2008 in MATTRESS News. The Dreamsafe Recycling Program in Australia, headed by WSN Environmental Solution, only began early this year, but the organization has reportedly already recycled 10,000 mattresses. Many of these either go to charities (if it still have some good years in them) or are recycled (like metal springs, rubber or wood parts).
WSN says it is charging residents $20 per mattress dropped at its centres, cheaper than the fee charged at many other metro facilities but still providing a healthy profit margin for the company – which also saves “thousands of cubic metres of airspace”.
The average mattress weighs just 35kg but takes up 0.7m3 of airspace, making it one of the biggest wastes of landfill space possible.Residents can drop off unwanted mattresses at WSN’s facilities at Artarmon, Auburn, Belrose, Chullora, Eastern Creek, Lucas Heights, Rockdale, Ryde, Seven Hills and Jacks Gully (Narellan).
“Sydney residents are becoming increasingly conscious of their environmental footprint and they want to see that nothing is wasted when they dispose of unwanted household goods,” says acting WSN CEO Charles Munro.

Greenpoint Sidewalks Filled With Discarded Mattresses
0 Comments Published by Lilian October 14th, 2008 in MATTRESS News.New York Shitty spotted this pile of mattress, and many more on the streets of Greenpoint. Wonder what could the reason for this be? Bed bugs, perhaps?
These mattress are only left to rot by the street. Someone can actually pick them up and use them still, which is rather unhealthy and unsafe. Or worse, they can be resold for $25-$50, believing it’s a great bargain.
Is there no recycling program over there?

Sealys New Facility for Improvement
0 Comments Published by Lilian October 14th, 2008 in MATTRESS News.
In order to stack up to the competition, Sealy today unveiled its latest facility, one that will help design better mattresses to the delight of its loyal patrons.
The new lab, which occupies 836 square feet and has four work stations for pressure- mapping studies, demonstrates Sealy’s leadership in research, technology and sleep science, according to Sealy officials. The lab uses a high-tech pressure-mapping system costing thousands of dollars to identify pressure points that lead to tossing and turning, thus disrupting sleep, officials said. It is the only facility of its kind in the mattress industry, they said.
“Pressure management is one of the focal points of Sealy’s product development process,” said Larry Rogers, Sealy’s CEO. “The Center of Excellence will provide crucial insight into developing cutting-edge sleep systems that help consumers maximize every minute of sleep.”
Alan Letton, chief science officer at Sealy, asserted that the center marks a major advance in mattress research and development and allows Sealy to connect the quality of a mattress to the quality of sleep in a definitive way.
