For Leggett & Platt: Coils Mean Cooler Sleeping
0 Comments Published by Lilian July 31st, 2008 in MATTRESS News, MATTRESS Tips.![]()
Leggett & Platt supports the studies done by Kansas State University’s Institute for Environmental Research saying that in warmer climates and environments or during the hot summer months, an innerspring mattress offer better cooling capacity than a memory foam or an air mattress. The studies reveal that innerspring mattresses “dissipate heat approximately 28 percent* better than non-innerspring sleep surfaces. “
According to Leggett & Platt’s engineer/physicist, “In our analysis of this testing data, we found that innerspring mattresses encourage evaporative heat dissipation nearly one-third better than visco-foam or air chamber sleep surfaces, therefore offering the coolest sleeping environment of the three.”
Why is this piece of information important to us? Because as further studies have revealed, when our body temperature rises because of heat, we will have a hard time getting sleep and relaxing in bed. Staying cooler will help us go into a deeper slumber better.
This is something to consider the next time we think of shopping for a new mattress.

South Bay Releases Exclusive Memory Foam Mattress Line
0 Comments Published by Lilian July 31st, 2008 in MATTRESS Shopping, Memory Foam Mattress.Once a company who is a known OEM supplier to bedding manufacturers, South Bay International has decided to join mattress retailing by offering an exclusive line of mattresses made with memory foam. The new produce is debuting at the Las Vegas Market this week.
Says Peter Tarquino, its president and CEO
“We have become advocates for ensuring the integrity of memory foam products. We feel that many visco-elastic foam products are being adulterated and degraded due to the fact that some foam companies use fillers that adversely affect the unique characteristics of the memory foam, and therefore produce an inferior product.”
The company’s main operation is in China and it is said to produce 2,000 mattress daily.
The new product will be called the Sleep Science collection and a separate memory foam mattress line for children called ViscoKids, will also be out in the market.
