The Sleeping Concert

The event took place in Tel Aviv last Christmas. As part of a promo by a mattress manufacturing company, some 144 beds were laid out in the venue while the audience was treated to a classical music concert.
Then, a similar event took place in Spain some months after, featuring Japanese pianist Mine Kawakami.
Can you imagine how these concerts went? Half the audience probably went to sleep, which is exactly the idea behind it.

The “Morphable” Bed
0 Comments Published by Lilian August 28th, 2007 in Interesting Mattress, MATTRESS FUN, MATTRESS News.
This is proudly a first anywhere in the world — the morphable bed.
“Morphable” would have to mean it’s very flexible. It may be twisted, bended, turned over in whatever direction you like. Because the bed is actually a mattress full of elastic bands, it can do exactly that.
But is it just me or does this not look that easy to handle? It rather looks bulky and uncomfortable to sleep on. A regular, flat and boring sleeping bag — now that’s truly morphable. You can even fold it to fit into your wallet (Kidding!).
Still, this bed is interesting. To me it’s a crafty item, a work of art or a conversation piece even.

Waiting comfortably in line

Evidently, he is a lot more clever than everyone else. This is a common scene nowadays. You know, the fact that people fall in line or keep a vigil when something new or exciting is about to happen. They do this so that they are the very first ones to get into a concert, an audition, a blockbuster movie or in this case, the very first ones to get dibs on the latest gadget, the iPhone.
Others bring folding chairs or sleeping bags, especially if they plan to go and camp days earlier. This guy brings an air mattress. And he’s relaxing comfortably as they wait for the store to open.

A bed and shelter for the homeless

Whatever happened to this one I wonder? Does it still exist or have the city scrapped the idea?
In 2004, Sean Godsell spearheaded a project in Melbourne, to benefit the homeless. He installed a shelter by the street, specifically by the bus stops where one could find a bed with woven steal mattress and blankets.
Sean Godsell has also designed other shelters made of park benches and shipping containers for the homeless in his city. You can check his work by visiting his website.
