Mattress Rotation Cycles
0 Comments Published by Lilian June 29th, 2007 in Interesting Mattress, MATTRESS Safety, MATTRESS Tips. Why is it necessary to rotate your mattress once in a while? Because if left in the same position for longer periods, your mattress will have permanent body impressions that will eventually affect your comfort level when you sleep on it. Not rotating your mattress can also decrease the quality of your mattress. Body impressions or indentions on mattresses is not something you can do without. But you can minimize this by regularly rotating your mattress.
Below are three ways:
#1 - Every Two Weeks
#2 - Every Four Weeks

#3 - Every Six Weeks
Remember to have someone help you do this to avoid injuring yourself or damaging your property.

Squeaking beds, which can be a very disturbing thing, especially when you are catching up on sleep, may be caused by of any of these:
Essortment has a good number of tips you can try to remedy this.
First, unscrew the headboard and footboard and then carefully reassemble the bed. When putting the mattress back on, be sure that it is centered. Often, a lopsided mattress puts too much pressure on one side of the bed, resulting in squeaking springs. The springs are meant to withstand evenly distributed weight, and when this balance is off, a squeak is almost sure to follow.
After eliminating a centering or weight distribution issue, the next trick to try is tightening any remaining bolts, screws, hinges, etc. A loose screw in the frame of the bed can cause sagging in the springs, resulting in unstable spring compression. If your squeak is the result of a loose fitting, your problem will be solved in less than five minutes! Routine tightening of bolts, screws, hinges, etc is a good idea to avoid future squeaking.
If you’ve still got a squeak after centering and tightening, you’ll need to spray some cooking oil on the squeaking spring or springs. In most cases, this will stop the squeak immediately. Over time, the lubrication from the spray will wear off, and reapplication may be necessary. Also, lubricating the springs with a bar of soap, candles, or paraffin wax may work. You can experiment with any or all of these products and determine what works best for your particular squeak.

Girl survived Black Sea onboard air mattress
0 Comments Published by Lilian June 29th, 2007 in Air Mattress, Interesting Mattress, MATTRESS News, MATTRESS Safety.
In an uplifting turn of events, a Ukrainian teenager was found two days after she drifted on her air mattress in the Black Sea. Reports say that her friends and her went to the beach to tan themselves and she eventually chose to cool down in the water on top of an air mattress. She fell asleep and did not realize she was drifting farther away from the shore.
The report credited the owner of small motor boat operating in the area with saving her life - discovering Albina the next day by accident. Until the motor boat reached her, bikini-clad Abina had been without water or protection from harsh sunlight. Unfortunately for the pair, the motor boat’s engine stopped operating shortly after Albina went on board. An MES search vessel located the drifting motor boat and the pair the next day. Both Albina and the motor boat’s owner were badly sunburned, but otherwise unharmed by the 48-hour ordeal.
The whole story is on Earthtimes.
