Do you need custom mattresses? Royal Pedic can make you a custom size mattress, giant mattresses, round mattresses, and yacht mattresses.
I guess these bed have actually been used by kings, queens, and Presidents all over the world so it might be a good source if you need a custom mattress for your custom bed, custom house, or want that special mattress you’ve always wanted.
Custom Size Mattress - - from Royal Pedic. Royal Pedic can make any Royal Pedic mattress to your exact size specifications.
Giant Mattresses are great for extra-large bedrooms and spacious comfort. Royal Pedic manufactured the 84″ x 84″ all-cotton mattress pictured above for Ronald Reagan during his tenure as governor of the state of California.
Round Mattresses are another favorite. The 96″-diameter round Royal-Pedic Pillowtop Mattress shown above was delivered to a customer whose apartment is on the 41st floor. To get this mattress into the apartment, the outer window had to be removed and the mattress was hoisted with a crane. The hoisting fee alone was $16,000! (Expect to spend between $4,000 and $8,000 for most configurations of Royal Pedic Round Mattresses.)
Yacht Mattresses take on the most unusual shapes. Royal Pedic makes the mattress based upon a cardboard cutout of the sleeping area where the mattress would go. Royal Latex mattresses and Royal Latex quilt-top mattresses are the mattresses of choice on yachts because they offer the most comfort on a hard surface where no box spring is being used.
For more than 50 years, kings and queens, presidents, and poets have been sleeping on Royal-Pedic mattresses. Among those who sleep on Royal-Pedics are 6 past presidents; 2 kings; and numerous well-known actors, actresses, and athletes.
Clintonbedding also has some cool custom mattresses for RVs, boats, or antique beds.

DIY - How to make your regular spring mattress into a memory foam mattress!
0 Comments Published by max March 10th, 2007 in Interesting Mattress, MATTRESS DIY, MATTRESS News, Memory Foam Mattress.
What is a memory foam mattress topper? It’s a layer of memory foam that can be place on top of your regular spring mattress to get the same effect as a memory foam mattress. But how do you make a regular spring mattress into a memory foam mattress?
Instead of just putting one layer of topper, you put 2 or even 3 toppers. A memory foam mattress is basically about 6 to 8 inches of regular foam at the bottom and 3 to 4 inches of memory foam layer at the top. The regular foam can be substituted with your regular old spring mattress.
There is no need for you to buy a $1500 memory foam mattress unless you have lots of cash and you like throwing it in your toilet.
I’ve personally used memory foam mattress toppers for my spring coil mattress before.
With 3 to 5 inches of memory foam mattress toppers, you can expect about the same quality as a regular memory foam mattress. The only important thing is to get a mattress topper with a high density rating. (anything about 4lbs. is good, anything less is pretty much crap.)
Memory foam mattress toppers come in 1 to 2 and a half inches, so you might need about 2 to 3 memory foam mattress toppers depending on the width of the topper you get.
So just make sure you have at least 3 inches of memory foam at the top of your mattress and you should experience a whole new way of sleeping.
Of course, I have moved onto a full memory foam mattress since my old mattress was just too old and collapsed during work. (night work that is…)
I’ve tested it with 5 inches of memory foam toppers but it doesn’t seem to make a difference whether I have 3 inches or 5 inches. After a certain point (about 3 inches), the effect of memory foam reaches it’s peak so…
Here’s some sources for mattress toppers:
(I’ve personally used the wal-mart toppers which are very good for the price and I think they are about 4.5lbs density)

Here’s a nice mattress forum if you want to find stuff about or for your mattress.
For example, you can find some information about mattress protectors for your new Hastens bed.

DIY - Make your own memory foam mattress

You can make your own memory mattress for about $450 with some foam among other things needed. If you know a little about memory foam mattresses, then you know how density of the memory foam can affect your overall mattress. Basically the higher the density, the softer and better the memory foam is. By building your own mattress, you can choose the most dense memory foam available and customize it to your liking.
The cool thing about making your own mattress is that you can really customize the density of the foam according to what you like. I picked a medium density top layer for the “cozy factor”, and a higher density second layer for support. The eggcrate provides a breathing channel to help maintain a good temperature. The bottom layer is just to prevent the mattress from “bottoming out” in case you decide to do pushups on it or something (your fists would fully compress the memory foam and touch the bed frame without the thick, firm layer underneath).
